These Are The Drinks That Make You Hyperemotional

We commonly enjoy an alcoholic beverage or two with the intention of creating merriment or a relaxing feeling. Drinking with friends, for example, is mostly for enjoyment. There is a new research that seems to back up this phenomenon of us getting hyperemotional when we drink.

You Become Hyperemotional When You Order These Drinks

Hyperemotional means that you are susceptible or sensitive to emotion. The research mentioned above, surveyed about 1,000 people across the US. Sourced from Alcoholic.org, the goal was to identify if there were specific emotions triggered by drinking.

The results revealed that the majority of the participants felt happy when they drank. Around 94.8% of men and 96.7% of women said that alcohol induced feelings of blissfulness.

In addition to that, the rest of the results revealed that there are other common emotions we feel during drinking. These are:

  • Nostalgic
  • Disgusted
  • Creative
  • Anxious
  • Overwhelmed
  • Surprised
  • Sad
  • Scared

The research went a little further. After identifying the kinds of emotions people felt when drinking, researchers extended their study to identify if there are specific drinks that bring out specific emotions. As you may have guessed from the title, they were successful in doing so. Results revealed that the following drinks triggered these emotions:

  • Cocktails
  • Indian pale ale
  • Vodka
Emotion: Sad

  • Wine
  • Gin
  • Whisky
  • Tequila

The results are inconclusive since the group only consisted of 1000 people and the circumstances were not completely controlled. However, this research still shows us that alcohol does have a certain effect on our emotions. Alcohol can make us hyperemotional. This should be a lesson to you.

Wine could be the drink of choice during romantic evenings or getaways because of this specific reason. Just as a precaution, as well, stir clear of drinks that invoke negative emotions. Some examples of bad drinks are Tequila, gin and shots.
