How To Show Your Affection When You Are Naturally Unaffectionate

There are some of us reading this now that identify with the word “unaffectionate”. We can’t all express how we feel through our words and actions. This trait is not at all a bad thing. However, when in a relationship, it’s important to still show your affection. Maybe you can do it in a different way if you are  naturally unaffectionate.

Show Your Affection Through Unconventional Yet Romantic Gestures

When the need for you to show your affection arises, you can do so in the following ways:

Give A Card

Let’s say that it’s your partner’s birthday. You’re not the type to prepare surprises or give her a hug and kiss. What you can do however is prepare her breakfast in bed with a pre-made greeting card on the tray. This will be perfect if you’re not good with your words.

Practice Your Compliments

It’s OK if you don’t know how to say what you want to say most of the time. What we suggest is to practice this skill indirectly by practicing giving compliments to your partner. If you feel like she’s looking extra good today, tell her something as simple as “You look beautiful”. Your compliments don’t have to be complex. They just have to be sincere.

Send “I Love You”s Through Chat Or Text

You may not be saying the three essential words all the time but you can practice doing so through chat or text. A simple “I love you, have a great day” will brighten your partner’s day up significantly, especially when she was least expecting it.

Watch Her Favorite Show With Her

You may not be all touchy-feely with your partner but you can still make sure you spend quality time with her. This should be the kind of time that makes your bond stronger. One way that you can do this is by sitting down with her to watch her favorite show.

Most of the items on this list are simple to do. Despite their simplicity, they will greatly impact your relationship. You don’t have to force yourself to be affectionate. But, if you make an effort to show your affection through ways you are comfortable with, your partner will be happier.
