When it comes to online dating, we, sometimes, approach it with very idealistic thoughts. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s good to focus more on the dating truths behind the practice. It’s not always going to be fun, happy and easy.
Online Dating Truths We Need To Open Our Eyes To
To clear things up, we are not saying that online dating will be difficult. Just like love, online dating can be unpredictable. It can be a source of good, but that won’t always be the case. You might encounter rejection every now and then; this is one of the dating truths you need to accept. Here’s a short list of other truths we need to open our eyes to:
1. You need to be vulnerable to better your chances.
Vulnerability means taking risks, going for people who you consider out of your league, or asking out the girl who isn’t showing any interest in you. There’s a slight chance that you could get rejected but you might as well get used to it and accept it. There will always be a chance for you to get hurt especially when dealing with love or emotions. The sooner you accept it, the lesser fear you will feel about casing a wide net.
2. Practice self-compassion.
It may be hard to connect loving another human being with self-compassion, but it’s actually very simple. Self-compassion is defined as compassion to one’s self during instances of inadequacy. You have to allow yourself to make mistakes. Most of us have their guard up because of past hurts whether it be in relationships or family environment. When you fail, don’t be so hard on yourself. Accept the fact that you are imperfect.
3. Find meaning in your rejection.
It doesn’t help when we are hurt and we cannot make sense of things. But, one very important dating truth that we need to accept is that rejection isn’t always bad or the end of everything. If you’re the positive type, then it will be easier for you to find meaning, or even humor, in what you’re going through.
The sooner you accept the dating truths we just talked about here, the sooner that you can date online without any hesitation. You’re not going to get it for the first few days or even weeks of practicing the three things on the list. However, the more of it you will do, the more easier it will get. Be consistent and reach for that dating success. For more tips, check out other posts from our blog.
